A new variant of the South Stream gas pipeline project, from the coast of the Crimea peninsula to Bulgaria’s port of Varna, was launched by the head of Gazprom Export, Andrei Konoplyanik during the Central European Gas Forum in Bratislava. In this way the pipeline will be shorter and cheaper. The news was broken a weak after Bulgaria started drilling for petrol and gas in the Black Sea.
