Workers in Ukraine will soon begin the task of moving a 31,000-ton steel cover over the radioactive ruins of the Chernobyl nuclear plant. The massive structure called the New Safe Confinement (NSC), will seal off Chernobyl’s reactor Unit 4. In 1986, an explosion inside the reactor led to the world’s worst civilian nuclear accident.
