In 2016 figures from Eurostat Bulgaria has considerably increased funding of humanitarian aid which has exceeded 1.2 million euro, BTA reports. Statistics have been released in connection with World Humanitarian Day, 19 August. For the past five years Bulgaria has allocated 0.09% of its gross national income – up from 0.04% in 2010, to humanitarian activities in Afghanistan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Georgia, Iraq, Macedonia, Nepal, Serbia, Ukraine and other countries.
