Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung led with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Mutko stepping down as the country’s chief World Cup organizer. The newspaper also reported on the “biggest” prisoner exchange in Ukraine since the outbreak of war there in 2014. Tabloid Hamburger Morgenpost led with a debate on fire cracker safety, which shops can sell from Thursday until New Year’s Eve. “Big fun or dangerous nonsense?” the tabloid asked.
