Will the International Criminal Court prosecute anyone for downing of Malaysia Airlines jet?


As international investigators continued Monday to clamour for access to the site in Ukraine where a Malaysia Airlines passenger jet was shot down, the question over whether those responsible would ever face justice remained unclear.
Ukraine’s prime minister has suggested that the International Criminal Court should investigate the downing of Flight 17. The permanent tribunal based in The Hague, Netherlands, was formed in July 2002 to investigate genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes. So far, two Congolese warlords have been convicted by the ICC.
