Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said on Monday he hoped British voters would decide in a June 23 referendum to stay in the EU, saying the bloc needed such a strategically important country with its strong trading and “seafaring” traditions.
The chances that Britain will vote to leave the EU increased sharply on Monday to 36 percent, the highest level since the British Prime Minister David Cameron announced the referendum four months ago, according to betting odds.
