Russian intelligence agencies were probably responsible for a massive cyber attack on Germany’s lower house of parliament last year which forced its computer systems to be shut down for days, Germany’s domestic intelligence agency said on Friday.
The agency, known as the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV), said a hacker group known as “Sofacy” was behind the attack. “The BfV has indications that it is being steered by the Russian state and has been monitoring it for years,” the agency said in a statement.
