MEPs have called on Russia to “immediately and unconditionally” release dozens of Ukrainian political prisoners.
A resolution adopted by parliament says these have been “illegally detained and imprisoned” in Russia and Crimea.
The human rights resolution, adopted in Strasbourg on Thursday, also calls on the Russian authorities to allow prisoners access to medical and legal services, guarantee humane conditions and investigate reports of torture.
The demand comes on the third anniversary,on Saturday of the annexation of Crimea, a move which,on Friday, was again condemned by the EU.
