UNICEF says more than one million people in war-torn eastern Ukraine are in danger of a serious water crisis.
The United Nations Children’s Fund said on Tuesday that as many as 1.3 million people are now facing acute water shortages.
UNICEF’s representative to Ukraine, Giovanna Barberis in a statement said: “Water is one of the most acute needs of children and adults in eastern Ukraine.”
The organization also said that many residents of eastern Ukraine’s Luhansk region have to rely on water trucks or even travel to surrounding areas in order to collect water.
