Speaker of the lower house of the Russian parliament has warned against Ukraine’s possible membership in NATO, saying that Russia will not leave such a move unanswered.
Sergei Naryshkin, the speaker of the State Duma, said Ukraine’s membership in NATO is “imaginable,” saying such a development would bring the Western military alliance right on Russia’s doorstep.
“For the previous two decades, we thought we were having a productive dialogue” with NATO, building up joint projects and relations, he said.
