Jamaica’s medal hopefuls Junelle Bromfield and Tiffany James are safely through to the semi-finals of the women’s 100 metres at the 2016 IAAF World Under-20 Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland. Both easily won their heat during the afternoon session on the opening day of the five-day championships on Tuesday.
Bromfield, who is the top seed at the championships, clocked 53.21 seconds to win Heat 2 well ahead of Dzhois Koba of Ukraine, who clocked 53.74 for second place.
James, who is the second seed, outclassed the field in Heat 4 to win in 52.98, the fastest qualifying time going into the semi-finals.
