A Dutch journalist may have discovered a smoking gun that links pro-Russian separatists to the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 crash.
A metal fragment from the crash site matches a surface-to-air BUK rocket, Dutch broadcaster RTL said on Thursday, supporting a theory that the plane was downed by rebel fighters in eastern Ukraine.
The fragment was recovered by Dutch journalist Jeroen Akkermans from the village of Hrabove several months ago near to where the plane was brought down last July, killing all 298 passengers and crew.
