Boris Nemtsov, a former deputy prime minister and outspoken critic of Vladimir Putin, was shot four times as he walked near the Kremlin with his Ukrainian girlfriend on Friday evening.
And tens of thousands of people carried portraits of Mr Nemtsov and banners reading ‘I am not afraid’, gathering a point not far from Kremlin before marching past the spot where the politician was killed. Some were chanting ‘Russia without Putin!’.
