Today will be the second time ever that outside observers from Europe and across the world will be keeping a close eye on the UK general election.
A total of 564 observers, approximately 170 of whom are from outside the UK, have been accredited by the Electoral Commission to ensure the vote is carried out in accordance with international standards.
The international observers have come from a variety of European countries including Iceland, Ukraine and Romania and there are also monitors from places which are further afield such as Nigeria, Bangladesh and the US.
