Germany, France, Russia and Ukraine will attend a summit in Berlin on Wednesday to discuss the implementation of the Minsk peace accords for Ukraine, the French presidency said Tuesday.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel invited the so-called Normandy Four to discuss the next steps “in the process towards ending the crisis in eastern Ukraine,” Paris said.
In a phone call ahead of the meeting, Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko spoke with his French and German counterparts who agreed to “put pressure” on Moscow to implement the Minsk accords, Kiev said in a statement posted on Twitter.
Russia annexed Ukraine’s Crimean Peninsula in 2014.
