Ukraine has banned Russiaâs entrant in the Eurovision Song Contest because she has performed in Crimea, the BBC reported Wednesday.
In 2015, Yulia Samoylova sang in Crimea, which was annexed by Russia in may 2014. Ukraine’s SBU security service said she will be banned for her “illegal” visit.

Ukraine’s Jamala won last year’s Eurovision with her song “1944” about Stalin’s mass deportation of Tatars from Crimea during World War II.
This year’s Eurovision takes place in Kiev in May.
