Tensions between Ukraine and Russia escalated sharply Wednesday after Russian President Vladimir Putin accused Ukrainian forces of attacking Russian troops occupying Crimea.
Putin charged Ukraine with “practicing terror” and warned that he “obviously will not let such things slide by,” according to Russia’s RIA News.
“This is a very dangerous game,” he said.
Petro Poroshenko, the Ukrainian president, called the Russian charges “fantasies.”
Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine’s representative to the Council of Europe, in a tweet accused Putin of “wanting more war,” while the country’s defense ministry denied the accusation, saying they were “nothing more than an attempt to justify acts of aggression.”Also On PoliticoErdoğan …read more
