Rebel forces have attacked government troops, killing 14 of them and wounding 42 others, said military spokesman Col. Philip Aguer.
The demonstrations were part of what organizers called a global march for rhinos and elephants, whose populations have been severely reduced by criminal networks that sell rhino horn and elephant ivory for high prices, particularly in Asia.
Yemeni Prime Minister Khaled Bahah visited an area leading to the Bab al-Mandab strait, the strategic southern entrance to the Red Sea and the gateway to the Suez Canal, after Shiite rebels were pushed out of the immediate area, government spokesman Rajeh Badi said Saturday.
