Marrakech – The Swedish Academy announced on Thursday, October 8, Belarusian Svetlana Alexievich as the winner of the 2015 Nobel Prize for Literature.
The author and journalist was rewarded “for her polyphonic writings, a monument to suffering and courage in our time”.
Svetlana Alexievich was born on May 31, 1948 in Ukraine. She is the fourteenth female to win the Nobel Prize for Literature since 1901.
On her website, Alexievich says she records conversations with 500 to 700 people for each book she writes.
