ASTANA – Kazakhstan attended its first meeting Jan. 3 as a non-permanent member of the United States Security Council and on Jan. 4 appointed former Kazakh Ambassador to the United States Kairat Umarov Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the United Nations.
