ASTANA – Swimmer Zulfiya Gabdullina became the first Kazakh Paralympian to win gold Sept. 8 when she won the women’s 100 m freestyle at the Summer Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The 51-year-old finished with a new world record of 01:30:07, followed by China’s Peng Qiuping and Ukraine’s Olga Sviderska.
