The foreign minister, Kristian Jensen, will travel to Washington today to meet the US secretary of state, John Kerry, and other officials.
The agenda of the meetings will be the Danish-US co-operation on issues such as Ukraine, Syria, the Arctic region, tackling Islamic State and trade.
“The timing of the meeting is optimal – Europe and the world is facing some serious problems and it is essential for Denmark, Europe and the US to work together to solve the challenges,” said Jensen.
“Together we can set the standards and work towards peace, democracy, human rights and free trade.”
