Russia has sentenced a former policeman to 13 years in prison on high treason charges, accusing him of spying for the CIA, the security service said on Thursday.
The Moscow District Court today convicted a former employee of the interior ministry’s Moscow region branch, Yevgeny Chistov, of high treason and sentenced him to 13 years in a high-security prison, the FSB security service said in a statement. “It was established that in 2011, when he served at the Russian interior ministry, EA Chistov established contact with US Central Intelligence Agency, acting on his own initiative and out of self interest,” the …read more
