Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott opted not to “shirtfront” Russian President Vladimir Putin during a short meeting today in China aimed at clearing the air before he hosts the Group of 20 summit this weekend.
Having pledged in October to challenge Putin when they met, and then saying on Nov. 8 he’d have a “robust” talk with the Russian leader, Abbott didn’t repeat his colorful sporting term during the conversation on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum, according to Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
