Former Zimbabwe chief Mugabe dies at age of 95
Robert Mugabe has died aged 95. Zimbabwe’s first post-independence leader, who had been in hospital in Singapore since April, passed away after battling ill health. Zimbabwean president Emmerson Mnangagwa spoke of his “utmost sadness”, describing Mugabe “an icon of liberation”. Mugabe had been forced to resign in 2017 after a military takeover, bringing to an end his decades-long controversial reign.
