Armenian Men’s Chess Team had a second victory at the European Team Championships in Iceland.
ON Sunday, November 15, the team took a 2,5:1,5 victory over the Norwegian team led by World Champion Magnus Carlsen.
Playing with white pieces, Hrant Melkumyan beat International Master Frode Urkedal and Levon Aronian won Magnus Carlsen with black pieces. This was followed by Gabriel Sargsyan’s draw with GM Jon Ludvig Hammer. Sergey Movsisyan lost to IM Aryan Tari.
Thus, Armenia took 4 points to recover the difference in score after yesterday’s defeat to France.
Ukraine and Russia lead the standings with 6 points each. …read more
