European foreign ministers on Monday added 17 ministers and the governor of the Central Bank of Syria to a list of those subject to EU sanctions targeting the Bashar Assad regime.
This brings to 234 the number of people subject to a travel ban and an asset freeze over the violent repression of the Syrian people, said a statement from the EU ministers who held a summit in Brussels on Monday. In addition, 69 entities are subject to an asset freeze.
