Two Chinese companies have put together plans to build massive solar capture plants inside the Chornobyl* exclusion zone — the area of Ukraine that’s still mostly uninhabited after the 1986 Chornobyl nuclear plant disaster in the town of Pripyat.
“There will be remarkable social benefits and economic ones as we try to renovate the once damaged area with green and renewable energy,” Shu Hua, the chairman of GCL-SI, the head of one of the two companies said in a news release.
