Two years ago, during my first research trip to Kyiv, I had the honor of meeting one of Maidan’s most dedicated youth activists, Denis Pilash. A post-graduate student at Kiev National University, Pilash hails from the western region of Transcarpathia and helped to spearhead left politics on the Maidan.
