At least now we know what that “humanitarian truck convoy” that broke into Ukraine was really for — plunder. It turns out to have stripped a few defence-production factories in Luhansk and hauled their contents back to Russia.
In all the speculation around the move, that had not occurred to anyone at all. But it is nothing new to the Russians, who stripped everything useful out of Eastern Europe and occupied Germany in 1945-46. East Ukraine was a centre of the Soviet defence industry.
