FAZ’s front page featured an interview with Kostiantyn Yeliseyev, the foreign policy adviser to Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko. Yeliseyev slammed German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel’s push to lift sanctions against Russia before Moscow fulfills its obligations under the Minsk Agreement as “irresponsible,” likening it to appeasing Hitler’s Germany in 1938.
The paper also featured an election opinion poll conducted for FAZ. Angela Merkel’s Christian Democrats polled at 38.5 percent, down 1 percentage point compared with two weeks ago, with Martin Schulz’s Social Democrats in second place on 24 percent.
