May 31 is the World No Tobacco Day. In Armenia, compared to previous years, the number of smokers hasn’t changed significantly. 53 percent of men, 7-8 percent of women and 6 percent of teenagers are smokers in our country. Alexander Bazarchyan, Director of National Institute of Health, thinks legislative changes are needed for decreasing those figures, “In our country, our weakest point is that smoking isn’t prohibited in public places. For example in Russia and Ukraine after the implementation of this method the statistics has changed significantly.”
