The European Union is ready to send three members of the European Commission for a high-level meeting between Ukraine, the EU and the Eurasian Troika that will be held in Minsk on August 26.
This issue was discussed during telephone consultations between Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso on Tuesday, the presidential press service reported.
In particular, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton, Vice-President of the European Commission and Energy Commissioner Guenther Oettinger and Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht are due to visit Minsk.
Poroshenko thanked Barroso for the EU’s readiness to send three members of the European Commission to Minsk. “This unprecedented move is a confirmation of solidarity with and support for Ukraine on the part of the European Union,” he said.
As reported, a meeting between Ukraine, the EU and the Eurasian Troika (Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia) will be held in Minsk on August 26 to discuss issues related to the implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, energy security and the stabilization of the situation in Donbas.
