LUXEMBOURG — In an unusually direct public appeal, British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson urged the Russian people “to choose a different path” and help end the devastating military strikes on Aleppo, Syria, which he and others in the West have called crimes against humanity.
Johnson, arriving for a meeting of EU foreign affairs ministers in Luxembourg, brushed aside a question about whether additional economic sanctions were needed against Russia. He said sanctions were an option and “there’s a huge amount of diplomatic pressure of one kind or another being applied.”
