Five men convicted of killing Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov were on Thursday given lengthy prison terms.
A Russian court last month convicted Zaur Dadayev and four accomplices — all ethnic Chechens — for the February 2015 assassination of Nemtsov, a fierce critic of Vladimir Putin. Dadayev, the ringleader, was sentenced to 20 years in prison, while his accomplices received sentences ranging from 11 to 19 years.
A fifth man, Beslan Shavanov, who was also tied to the killing, threw a grenade at police officers when they tried to arrest him, before killing himself.
