Former British Prime Minister David Cameron has defended his decision to hold a referendum on the U.K.’s membership of the EU, the Guardian reported Thursday.
“I thought it right to hold the referendum because this issue had been poisoning British politics for years,” Cameron said in Kiev on Wednesday, the day the U.K. formally triggered Article 50, informing the EU of its intention to leave the block. “I think it was the right thing to do.”
