ELMAU, Germany — European leaders joined the United States Sunday in calling for maintaining economic sanctions against Russia until Moscow ends its support for secessionists in eastern Ukraine.
A renewed offensive by Kremlin-supported separatists in the region in recent days illustrated why the measures should remain in place, EU officials said during the G7 summit taking place in the Bavarian Alps.
