European leaders are meeting in Brussels today (12 February) to try to hash out solutions to a triumvirate of problems plaguing the European Union – terrorism, the spectre of Greece leaving the eurozone and the deteriorating situation in Greece.

Last night a meeting of eurozone finance ministers ended in abrupt failure after Greece refused to endorse the prepared statement, because it did not condemn the bailout and did not refer to the humanitarian crisis occurring in Greece. Such high-level political issues may need to be discussed at today’s summit.
