LONDON â The U.K.’s National Health Service was on Friday hit by a large-scale cyber attack, a spokesperson for the NHS confirmed.
Some of the U.K.âs biggest hospitals and medical practices were hit by the hack on the NHS IT system, forcing vital services to be shut down.
NHS Digital said in a statement that âthe investigation is at an early stage but we believe the malware variant is Wanna Decryptor.â
âAt this stage we do not have any evidence that patient data has been accessed. We will continue to work with affected organizations to confirm this,â the statement said.
