MEPs this week said farewell to a familiar face and welcomed another. José Manuel Barroso, the departing president of the European Commission, gave a farewell speech to MEPs on Tuesday (21 October), in which he set out the highlights of his ten years in office. On Wednesday, the next Commission president, Jean-Claude Juncker, gave a speech predicting successes for his upcoming term.
