Russian President Vladimir Putin accused the United States of trying to drive a wedge between Europe and his country and drum up fears of hostilities between NATO and his country.
“[O]nly an insane person and only in a dream can imagine that Russia would suddenly attack NATO,” Putin said in an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera published Wednesday. “I think some countries are simply taking advantage of people’s fears with regard to Russia.”
