Putin says sanctions make Russia stronger, offers Comey asylum


Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday said sanctions imposed on Russia by the United States only make the country stronger, and jokingly offered former FBI director James Comey asylum if he is prosecuted in the U.S.
Speaking during his annual question-and-answer session, which lasted four hours, Putin said the most recent U.S. sanctions only demonstrate dysfunction in the American political system.
“Speaking of which, why [is the U.S. imposing sanctions]? There is nothing extraordinary going on at the moment, so why are they talking about sanctions with zero basis? It’s evidence of a continuing internal political struggle in the U.S.,†said Putin.
