A cyber-espionage campaign against Ukrainian security agencies ebbed and flowed with the tide of kinetic military activity by Russian and pro-Russian forces, even stopping during a ceasefire, according to a new report.
The campaign, dubbed “Operation Armageddon,” has been publicly blamed by the Ukrainian intelligence service on Russia’s state security agency, the FSB. Lookingglass, the Washington-area threat intelligence firm that produced today’s 50-page report, says its technical analysis of malware samples found in phishing emails sent to Ukrainian officials and other data corroborate that attribution.
