What exactly are European NATO allies going to do with all those new weapons? That was the question from Russia’s ambassador to NATO, Alexander Grushko, as he cast doubt on the need for European members of the alliance to increase their military spending, as demanded by U.S. President Donald Trump.
In a briefing with reporters Thursday, Grushko warned that Trump was at risk of setting off a new arms race that would potentially endanger the security of EU countries, particularly the Baltic states and Poland, where NATO has stationed new battalions as a deterrence against Russia.
