The German and Russian foreign ministers have called for restraint amidst increasing friction in Crimea, Deutsche Welle reports.
“In recent days there has been a spike in tensions around Crimea and that has worried us,” Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Germany’s foreign minister, said at a joint press conference Monday with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Yekaterinburg.
Lavrov called for calm.
“For now, the main thing is not to give in to emotions, not to slip into taking some extreme action, but to try to stabilize the situation with restraint and concentration,” Lavrov said.
