Support for global prosperity, equality, health and wellbeing helped Sweden dethrone Ireland atop the latest Good Country index.
The table ranks 163 countries’ net contribution to humanity relative to the size of their GDP, based on 35 indicators from international organizations including the United Nations and World Bank.
The Swedes’ high scores for foreign direct investment, pharmaceutical exports, and humanitarian aid donations saw them take the mantle from Ireland, which topped the last ranking in 2014 but this year fell to 11th.
Other EU nations dominated the top 10, with Denmark second, the Netherlands third, Britain fourth, Germany fifth and France eighth.
