Theresa May on Sunday told President Barack Obama that the U.S. remains Britain’s closest ally while London looks for ways to separate from the European Union.
Speaking after the meeting with Obama on the sidelines of the G20 summit in China, May said Brexit was the primary topic when the two leaders sat down for a chat, their first since May was appointed prime minister on July 13.
“We have talked about Britain’s decision to leave the European Union — the process now and what Brexit means for the U.K.’s relationships with our European friends, but with other countries, too,” May said. …read more
