Ukraine’s governing coalition loses majority


KIEV — Ukraine’s ruling coalition collapsed Thursday, setting off the second political crisis in a week in the country after the government survived a no-confidence vote at the beginning of the week.
Two parties decided to quit the coalition. First, on Wednesday, former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko said her Fatherland party was pulling out. Then, on Thursday, the Samopomich, or Self-Reliance, party announced it was withdrawing its 26 members — thereby denying the coalition a parliamentary majority.
