Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said on Tuesday he wanted Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk to step down, following a series of high-profile resignations from his increasingly unpopular government.
Presidential spokesman Svyatoslav Tsegolko tweeted: “In order to restore trust in the government, the president asked the prosecutor general and the prime minister to quit.”
Yatsenyuk faced a potential vote of no-confidence in parliament on Tuesday, in the wake of corruption allegations that have plagued his government and the recent resignations of his reform-minded economy minister and the deputy prosecutor general.
