The United States expelled two Russian diplomats in response to an attack on an American diplomat in Moscow.
U.S. State Department spokesman John Kirby said two Russian officials – who have not been named – were told to leave the country on June 17, the BBC reported Saturday.
Earlier last month, on June 6, a Russian policeman attacked the U.S. diplomat near the American embassy in Moscow, Kirby said. “The action was unprovoked,” he added.
Russia has denied the allegation and accused the American diplomat of working for the CIA, claiming he had refused to show ID papers when asked by the policeman.
